  3. It's a gorgeous colour. I don't know what happened to my cornflower, it's disappeared. Perhaps it got dug out by mistake.

    1. This is a perennial cornflower, Leanan also known as centaurea montana.

  8. Lovely pics. These are Centaurea montana, if I'm not mistaken. Mine pop up all over the place and have to be thinned out in June. They also tend to succumb to powdery mildew by late summer but they're wonderful for bees.

    1. That's correct, Jules. Mine also end up getting mildew after flowering and sprawl out leaving a bare centre to the plant. At this point I cut off all the stems except any new ones coming from the middle and the plant starts all over again to produce a second flush of flowers.

  10. So pretty Sue! I sowed cornflower seedlings in pots, but as soon as I took the cloches off the snails got to them :-(
